Lines ["the World Is Sweet, And Fair, And Bright,"] Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABA CDCDC EFEFE GHGHG IJIKI

The world is sweet and fair and brightA
And joy aboundeth everywhereB
The glorious stars crown every nightA
And thro' the dark of ev'ry careB
Above us shineth heaven's lightA
-
If from the cradle to the graveC
We reckon all our days and hoursD
We sure will find they give and gaveC
Much less of thorns and more of flowersD
And tho' some tears must ever laveC
-
The path we tread upon them allE
The light of smiles forever liesF
As o'er the rains from clouds that fallE
The sun shines sweeter in the skiesF
Life holdeth more of sweet than gallE
-
For ev'ry one no matter whoG
Or what their lot or high or lowH
All hearts have clouds but heaven's blueG
Wraps robes of bright around each woeH
And this is truest of the trueG
-
That joy is stronger here than griefI
Fills more of life far more of yearsJ
And makes the reign of sorrow briefI
Gives more of smiles for less of tearsK
Joy is life's tree grief but its leafI
