| He walks the world He puts His holy hand | B |
| On every sleeper only puts His hand | B |
| Within it benedictions for each one | C |
| Then passes on but ah whene'er He meets | D |
| A watcher waiting for Him He is glad | E |
| Does God like man feel lonely in the dark | F |
| He rests His hand upon the watcher's brow | G |
| But more than that He leaves His very breath | H |
| Upon the watcher's soul and more than this | I |
| He stays for holy hours where watchers pray | J |
| And more than that He ofttimes lifts the veils | K |
| That hide the visions of the world unseen | L |
| The brightest sanctities of highest souls | M |
| Have blossomed into beauty in the dark | F |
| How extremes meet the very darkest crimes | N |
| That blight the souls of men are strangely born | O |
| Beneath the shadows of the holy night | P |
| - | |
| Deep in the dark I hear his holy feet | Q |
| Around Him rustle archangelic wings | R |
| He lingers by the temple where His Christ | S |
| Is watching in His Eucharistic sleep | T |
| And where poor hearts in sorrow cannot rest | U |
| He lingers there to soothe their weariness | V |
| Where mothers weep above the dying child | W |
| He stays to bless the mother's bitter tears | X |
| And consecrates the cradle of her child | W |
| Which is to her her spirit's awful cross | Y |
| He shudders past the haunts of sin yet leaves | Z |
| E'er there a mercy for the wayward hearts | A2 |
| Still as a shadow through the night He moves | B2 |
| With hands all full of blessings and with heart | C2 |
| All full of everlasting love ah me | D2 |
| How God does love this poor and sinful world | E2 |
| - | |
| The stars behold Him as He passes on | F2 |
| And arch His path of mercy with their rays | G2 |
| The stars are grateful He gave them their light | P |
| And now they give Him back the light He gave | H2 |
| The shadows tremble in adoring awe | I2 |
| They feel His presence and they know His face | J2 |
| The shadows too are grateful could they pray | J |
| How they would flower all His way with prayers | X |
| The sleeping trees wake up from all their dreams | K2 |
| Were their leaves lips ah me how they would sing | L2 |
| A grand Magnificat as His Mary sang | M2 |
| The lowly grasses and the fair faced flowers | N2 |
| Watch their Creator as He passes on | F2 |
| And mourn they have no hearts to love their God | A |
| And sigh they have no souls to be beloved | O2 |
| Man only man the image of his God | A |
| Lets God pass by when He walks forth at night | P |
