Dreaming Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KIKI

The moan of a wintry soulA
Melted into a summer songB
And the words like the wavelet's rollA
Moved murmuringly alongB
-
And the song flowed far and awayC
Like the voice of a half sleeping rillD
Each wave of it lit by a rayC
But the sound was so soft and so stillD
-
And the tone was so gentle and lowE
None heard the song till it had passedF
Till the echo that followed its flowE
Came dreamingly back from the pastF
-
'Twas too late a song never returnsG
That passes our pathway unheardH
As dust lying dreaming in urnsG
Is the song lying dead in a wordH
-
For the birds of the skies have a nestI
And the winds have a home where they sleepJ
And songs like our souls need a restI
Where they murmur the while we may weepJ
-
-
-
But songs like the birds o'er the foamK
Where the storm wind is beating their breastI
Fly shoreward and oft find a homeK
In the shelter of words where they restI
