The Silence Between Us Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDEE FFGG GGHH IIJJ KKLL

How can I see you in the halls without coming over to talkA
Why must we have separate ways to walkA
We promised always but here we areB
You re a familiar face but somehow so farB
-
How can we be strangers after knowing every secretC
We used to call every day I miss itD
I still know your favorite color and the teacher you hateE
But they ve both changed now a different fateE
-
How is your family doing It s been a whileF
When I think of them I still smileF
What ever happened to foreverG
We once said infinity now it s neverG
-
Gold or silverG
Fall or summerG
Things I knew but can t recallH
Sometimes the world feels so smallH
-
Old photos rot on the shelfI
Like a Christmas box in your garage with lights and an elfI
Memories so faded they re almost goneJ
They no longer can be drawnJ
-
Oh how can we be strangers to this dayK
Once laughter shared but now in the wayK
I miss everything about youL
I wonder if you think about me tooL
