Xi. Written At Ostend Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFGHI

HOW sweet the tuneful bells' responsive pealA
As when at opening morn the fragrant breezeB
Breathes on the trembling sense of wan diseaseB
So piercing to my heart their force I feelA
And hark with lessening cadence now they fallC
And now along the white and level tideD
They fling their melancholy music wideD
Bidding me many a tender thought recallC
Of summer days and those delightful yearsE
When by my native streams in life's fair primeF
The mournful magic of their mingling chimeF
First wak'd my wond'ring childhood into tearsG
But seeming now when all those days are o'erH
The sounds of joy once heard and heard no moreI
