Ale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD ECFCGH IJKLMM CNOPQQ

Now do I hear thee weep and groanA
Who hath a comrade sunk at seaB
Then quaff thee of my good old aleC
And it will raise him up for theeB
Thoul't think as little of him thenD
As when he moved with living menD
-
If thou hast hopes to move the worldE
And every effort it doth failC
Then to thy side call Jack and JimF
And bid them drink with thee good aleC
So may the world that would not hearG
Perish in hell with all your careH
-
One quart of good ale and II
Feel then what life immortal isJ
The brain is empty of all thoughtK
The heart is brimming o'er with blissL
Time's first child Life doth live but DeathM
The second hath not yet his breathM
-
Give me a quart of good old aleC
Am I a homeless man on earthN
Nay I want not your roof and quiltO
I'll lie warm at the moon's cold hearthP
No grumbling ghost to grudge my bedQ
His grave ha ha holds up my headQ
