Introduction To Songs Of Innocence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDEF GDEF HIHJ EDKF

Piping down the valleys wildA
Piping songs of pleasant gleeB
On a cloud I saw a childA
And he laughing said to meB
-
Pipe a song about a LambC
So I piped with merry cheerD
Piper pipe that song againE
So I piped he wept to hearF
-
Drop thy pipe thy happy pipeG
Sing thy songs of happy cheerD
So I sang the same againE
While he wept with joy to hearF
-
Piper sit thee down and writeH
In a book that all may readI
So he vanish'd from my sightH
And I pluck'd a hollow reedJ
-
And I made a rural penE
And I stain'd the water clearD
And I wrote my happy songsK
Every child may joy to hearF
