Winners Or Losers? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAABB CDEEEDD FBFFFBB GHGGGHH

Unless our Souls win back to TheeA
We shall have lost this fightB
Yes though we win on field and seaA
Though mightier still our might may beA
We still shall lose if we win not TheeA
Help us to climb as in Thy sightB
The Great High Way of Thy DelightB
-
It is the world old strife againC
The fight 'twixt good and illD
Since first the curse broke out in CainE
Each age has worn the grim red chainE
And ill fought good for sake of gainE
Help us through all life's conflict stillD
To battle upwards to Thy WillD
-
Are we to be like all the restF
Or climb we loftier heightB
Can we our wayward steps arrestF
All life with nobler life investF
And so fulfil our Lord's behestF
Help us through all the world's dark nightB
To struggle upwards to the LightB
-
If not we too shall pass as passedG
The older peoples in their timeH
God's pact is sure His word stands fastG
Those who His sovereignty outcastG
Outcast themselves shall be at lastG
So lest we pass in this our primeH
Lord set us to the upward climbH
