Prince Of Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDE FGHG IJJI KLKM NONO MG

O Thou who standest both for God and ManA
O King of Kings who wore no earthly crownB
O Prince of Peace unto Thy feet we comeC
And lay our burden downB
-
The weight had grown beyond our strength to bearD
Thy Love alone the woful thrall can breakE
Thy Love reborn into this world of careD
Alone can life remakeE
-
How shall we turn to good this weight of illF
How of our sorrows build anew to TheeG
Of your own selves ye cannot stand or buildH
Only through Me through MeG
-
O turn once more to Thee the hearts of menI
Work through the leaven of our grief and painJ
Let not these agonies be all in vainJ
Come dwell with us againI
-
The world has nailed itself unto its crossK
O tender to Thy hands its heart will proveL
For Thou alone canst heal its dreadful lossK
Come Thou and reign in loveM
-
Peace and the sword Lord Thou didst come to bringN
Too long the sword has drunk to Thy decreaseO
Come now by this high way of sufferingN
And reign O Prince of PeaceO
-
TUNE ArtaviaM
And didst Thou love the race that loved not TheeG
