Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIHJKLMJJNJ| And we ourselves Are our hands clean | A |
| Are our souls free from blame | B |
| For this world tragedy | C |
| Nay then Like all the rest | D |
| We had relaxed our hold on higher things | E |
| And satisfied ourselves with smaller | F |
| Ease pleasure greed of gold | G |
| Laxed morals even in these | H |
| We suffered them as unaware | I |
| Of their soul cankerings | H |
| We had slipped back along the sloping way | J |
| No longer holding First Things First | K |
| But throning gods emasculate | L |
| Idols of our own fashioning | M |
| Heads of sham gold and feet of crumbling clay | J |
| If we would build anew and build to stay | J |
| We must find God again | N |
| And go His way | J |
