Each man is Captain of his SoulA
And each man his own CrewB
But the Pilot knows the Unknown SeasC
And He will bring us throughB
-
-
We break new seas to dayD
Our eager keels quest unaccustomed watersE
And from the vast uncharted waste in frontF
The mystic circles leapG
To greet our prows with mightiest possibilitiesC
Bringing us whatH
Dread shoals and shifting banksI
And calms and stormsJ
And clouds and biting galesK
And wreck and lossL
And valiant fighting timesM
And maybe Death and so the Larger LifeN
-
For should the Pilot deem it bestO
To cut the voyage shortP
He sees beyond the sky line andQ
He'll bring us into PortP
-
And maybe Life Life on a bounding tideR
And chance of glorious deedsS
Of help swift born to drowning marinersE
Of cheer to ships dismasted in the galeT
Of succours given unasked and joyfullyU
Of mighty service to all needy soulsV
-
So Ho for the Pilot's ordersE
Whatever course He makesW
For He sees beyond the sky lineX
And He never makes mistakesW
-
And maybe Golden DaysY
Full freighted with delightZ
And wide free seas of unimagined blissA2
And Treasure Isles and Kingdoms to be wonB2
And Undiscovered Countries and New KinC2
-
For each man captains his own SoulA
And chooses his own CrewB
But the Pilot knows the Unknown SeasC
And He will bring us throughB
