To lift the sombre fringes of the NightA
To open lands long darkened to the LightA
To heal grim wounds to give the blind new sightA
Right mightily wrought heB
Forth to the fight he faredC
High things and great he daredC
He thought of all men but himselfD
Himself he never sparedC
He greatly lovedE
He greatly livedF
And died right mightilyB
-
Like Him he served he walked life's troublous waysG
With heart undaunted and with calm high faceH
And gemmed each day with deeds of sweetest graceH
Pull lovingly wrought heB
Forth to the fight he faredC
High things and great he daredC
In His Master's might to spread the LightA
Right lovingly wrought heB
He greatly lovedE
He greatly livedF
And died right mightilyB
-
Like him he served he would not turn asideI
Nor home nor friends could his true heart divideI
He served his Master and naught else besideI
Right faithfully wrought heB
Forth to the fight he faredC
High things and great he daredC
In His Master's might to spread the LightA
Right faithfully wrought heB
He greatly lovedE
He greatly livedF
And died right mightilyB
-
He passed like light across the darkened landJ
And dying left behind him this commandJ
The door is open So let it ever standJ
Full mightily wrought heB
Forth to the fight he faredC
High things and great he daredC
In His Master's might to spread the LightA
Right mightily wrought heB
He greatly lovedE
He greatly livedF
And died right mightilyB
