I faced a future all unknownA
No opening could I seeB
I heard without the night wind moanA
The ways were dark to meB
I cannot face it all aloneA
O be Thou near to meB
-
I had done sums and sums and sumsC
Inside my aching headD
I'd tried in vain to pierce the gloomsC
That lay so thick aheadD
But two and two will not make fiveE
Nor will do when I'm deadD
-
And then I thought of Him who fedD
Five thousand hungry menF
With five small casual loaves of breadD
Would he were here againF
Dear God hast Thou still miraclesC
For the troubled sons of menF
-
He has He will He worketh stillG
In ways most wonderfulH
He drew me from the miry clayI
He filled my cup quite fullJ
And while my heart can speak I'll tellK
His love unspeakableH
-
Rest in the Lord I saw it thereL
On the tablets of the nightM
And comforted I dropped my careL
Where burdens have no weightN
Then trustfully I turned and sleptO
And woke and it was lightM
-
God works to day as He did of oldP
For the lightening of men's woesC
His wonders never can be toldP
His goodness no man knowsC
His Love His Power His TendernessC
Nor shall do till life's closeC
-
His kindness is so very greatN
His greatness is so goodQ
He looks upon my low estateN
He gives me daily foodR
And nothing is too small for HimS
Yes truly God is goodQ
