A Little Te Deum For These Times Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHHHIJKLFMFFNG IA

We thank Thee LordA
For mercies manifold in these dark daysB
For Heart of Grace that would not suffer wrongC
For all the stirrings in the dead dry bonesD
For bold self steeling to the times' dread needsE
For every sacrifice of self to TheeF
For ease and wealth and life so freely givenG
For Thy deep sounding of the hearts of menH
For Thy great opening of the hearts of menH
For Thy close knitting of the hearts of menH
For all who sprang to answer the great callI
For their high courage and self sacrificeJ
For their endurance under deadly stressK
For all the unknown heroes who have diedL
To keep the land inviolate and freeF
For all who come back from the Gates of DeathM
For all who pass to larger life with TheeF
And find in Thee the wider libertyF
For hope of Righteous and Enduring PeaceN
For hope of cleaner earth and closer heavenG
With burdened hearts but faith unquenchableI
We thank Thee LordA
