They Shall Not Know Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDDC EFEFGHHC CICJCKKC

When thou art happy thou dear heart of pleasureA
Because men love thee and the feasts are spreadB
And Fortune in thy lap has poured her treasureA
And Spring is there and roses crown thy headB
Then think of one who loved thee for his woeC
And if thou sighD
With others byD
They shall not knowC
-
When thou art silent in thy day of troubleE
Because fools vex and thou hast rivals foundF
And love has played thee falser than a bubbleE
And memory stings and grief is as a woundF
Then think of one whose hand first soothed thy browG
And if a smileH
Thy tears beguileH
These shall not knowC
-
When all is ended thou pale ghost of sorrowC
And time's last flower is gathered from the groveI
And yesterday to thee is as to morrowC
And there is none to speak to thee of loveJ
Then sing these songs one made thee long agoC
And men shall swearK
Thou still art fairK
Yet shall not knowC
