I Remember, I Remember Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE AFGFHIEI AJKJLMNM AOPOQRCR

I remember I rememberA
The house where I was bornB
The little window where the sunC
Came peeping in at mornB
He never came a wink too soonD
Nor brought too long a dayE
But now I often wish the nightF
Had borne my breath awayE
-
I remember I rememberA
The roses red and whiteF
The violets and the lily cupsG
Those flowers made of lightF
The lilacs where the robin builtH
And where my brother setI
The laburnum on his birthdayE
The tree is living yetI
-
I remember I rememberA
Where I was used to swingJ
And thought the air must rush as freshK
To swallows on the wingJ
My spirit flew in feathers thenL
That is so heavy nowM
And summer pools could hardly coolN
The fever on my browM
-
I remember I rememberA
The fir trees dark and highO
I used to think their slender topsP
Were close against the skyO
It was a childish ignoranceQ
But now 'tis little joyR
To know I'm farther off from HeavenC
Than when I was a boyR
