Slack Tide. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDF GHGH IJIJ KGKG LMNM ONON

My boat is still in the reedy coveA
Where the rushes hinder its onward courseB
For I care not now if we rest or moveC
O'er the slumberous tide to the river's sourceB
-
My boat is fast in the tall dank weedsD
And I lay my oars in silence byE
And lean and draw the slippery reedsD
Through my listless fingers carelesslyF
-
The babbling froth of the surface foamG
Clings close to the side of my moveless boatH
Like endless meshes of honeycombG
And I break it off and send it afloatH
-
A faint wind stirs and I drift alongI
Far down the stream to its utmost boundJ
And the thick white foam flakes gathering strongI
Still cling and follow and fold aroundJ
-
Oh the weary green of the weedy wasteK
The thickening scum of the frothy foamG
And the torpid heart by the reeds embracedK
And shrouded and held in its cheerless homeG
-
The fearful stillness of wearied calmL
The tired quiet of ended strifeM
The echoed note of a heart's sad psalmN
The sighing end of a wasted lifeM
-
The reeds cling close and my cradle swaysO
And the white gull dips in the waters' barmN
And the heart asleep in the twilight hazeO
Feels not its earth bonds knows not alarmN
