Misunderstanding Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACC DEEDFF GHHGII JKKJLL MDDMLL NOONPP QRRQLL STTSTT

Spring's face is wreathed in smiles She had been drivenA
Hither and thither at the surly willB
Of treacherous winds till her sweet heart was chillB
Into her grasp the sceptre has been givenA
And now she touches with a proud young handC
The earth and turns to blossoms all the landC
-
We catch the smile the joyousness the prideD
And share them with her Surely winter gloomE
Is for the old and frost is for the tombE
Youth must have pleasure and the tremulous tideD
Of sun kissed waves and all the golden fireF
Of Summer's noontide splendor of desireF
-
I have forgotten for the breath of budsG
Is on my temples if in former daysH
I have known sorrow I remember praiseH
And calm content and joy's great ocean floodsG
And many dreams so sweet that in their placeI
We would not welcome even Truth's fair faceI
-
O Man to whom my heart hast leaned dost knowJ
Aught of my life Sometimes a strong despairK
Enters my soul and finds a lodging thereK
Thou dost not know me and the years will goJ
As these last months have gone and I shall beL
Still far still a strange woman unto theeL
-
I do not blame thee If there is a faultM
Let it be mine for surely had I triedD
The door of my heart's home to open wideD
No need had been for even Love's assaultM
And yet methinks somewhere there is a keyL
Thou mightest have found and entered happilyL
-
I am no saint niched in a hallowed wallN
For men to worship but I would compelO
A level gaze You teachers who would tellO
A woman's place I do defy you allN
While justice lives and love with joy is crownedP
Woman and man must meet on equal groundP
-
The deepest wrong is falsehood She who sellsQ
Her soul and body for a little gainR
In ease or the world's notice has a stainR
Upon her soul no lighter for the bellsQ
Of marriage rites and purer far is sheL
Who gives her all for love's sad ecstasyL
-
Canst thou not understand a nature strongS
And passionate with impulses that swayT
With yearning tenderness that must have wayT
Yet knows no ill desire no touch of wrongS
If thou canst not then in God's name I prayT
See me no more forever from this dayT
