A story about Sara Blakely (businesswoman) stuck with me.
At dinner, her dad would always ask:
How did you fail today?
And he'd be disappointed if they had nothing to share.
So how did you fail today?
AtyInvestor: Sara Blakely used to knock on doors selling fax machines.
Soon enough, everything changed.
Sara had difficulty finding the right undergarment to wear under a pair of white pants.
This sparked her brain.
Why not create footless pantyhose that could be worn under pants?
AtyInvestor: Manufacturers told her that her product wouldn't sell.
Then, Blakely even drove to North Carolina, where most of America's hosiery mills were located, to pitch her idea.
It was rejected!
I mean, who the h*ll needs pantyhose with an invisible line?
Sara did, so she persisted.
AtyInvestor: In 2021, The Blackstone Group bought a majority stake in the company.
Today, Sara Blakely is worth $1.1 billion.
