The clouds had poured down the rainA
And the chills outside my boys' quarters were at fever pitchB
Thunder rolled out and flashes of lightning lit the skyC
Surely making outside a placeD
l never wanted to beE
That l could not be Jesus to carry my own cross to the graveF
-
So like anyone would doG
l also retired to my cozy and comfortable bedH
The electricity was not thereI
UEDCL had claimed its powerJ
Sleep being my agendaK
No serious harm had been doneL
The darkness blended my desireJ
-
The rain still drizzling and winds blowingM
Turned myself all directions in my bedH
But my eyes were still crystal clearN
No signs of taking a trip to SlumlandH
Anytime soonO
My hope was left in looking through the darkP
Until sleep would steal me offQ
-
The night had its own plansR
The wind became tenseS
Yet whispers of thingsT
l could not tellU
Deep withinV
Were they ghostsW
OR my mind pulling my legX
-
Adrenaline started its missionL
My heartbeat fastH
Trembling in fearN
But fear was for the weakY
So false strength clothed meE
With my body sweatingM
Were heat being notH
It is just the windH
l consoled meE
-
Sound of singing birdsZ
Marked the long unease nightH
Did not sleep at allA2
But a smile l dressedH
The night was longB2
BUT l survivedH

Poet's note: The poem expresses fear during times of fantasy which the mind sometimes creates but we position ourselves to it.
