Little Libbie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDF GCGH IJKA LMNM OPOP QRSR TUVU WXYX

One more little spirit to Heaven has flownA
To dwell in that mansion aboveB
Where dear little angels together roamC
In God's everlasting loveB
-
One little flower has withered and diedD
A bud near ready to bloomE
Its life on earth is marked with prideD
Oh sad it should die so soonF
-
Sweet little Libbie that precious flowerG
Was a pride in her parents' homeC
They miss their little girl every hourG
Those friends that are left to mournH
-
Her sweet silvery voice no more is heardI
In the home where she once roamedJ
Her place is vacant around the hearthK
Where her friends are mourning loneA
-
They are mourning the loss of a little girlL
With black eyes and auburn hairM
She was a treasure to them in this worldN
This beautiful child so fairM
-
One morning in April a short time agoO
Libbie was active and gayP
Her Saviour called her she had to goO
E're the close of that pleasant dayP
-
While eating dinner this dear little childQ
Was choked on a piece of beefR
Doctors came tried their skill awhileS
But none could give reliefR
-
She was ten years of age I am toldT
And in school stood very highU
Her little form now the earth enfoldsV
In her embrace it must ever lieU
-
Her friends and schoolmates will not forgetW
Little Libbie that is no moreX
She is waiting on the shining stepY
To welcome home friends once moreX
