To Flora. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFF GHGHIJIJKKLL MNMN OO

When April woke the drowsy flowersA
And vagrant odours thronged the breezeB
And bluebirds wrangled in the bowersA
And daisies flashed along the leasB
And faint arbutus strove amongC
Dead winter's leaf strewn wreck to riseD
And nature's sweetly jubilant songE
Went murmuring up the sunny skiesD
Into this cheerful world you cameF
And gained by right your vernal nameF
-
I think the springs have changed of lateG
For Arctics are my daily wearH
The skies are turned to cold grey slateG
And zephyrs are but draughts of airH
But you make up whate'er we lackI
When we too rarely come togetherJ
More potent than the almanacI
You bring the ideal April weatherJ
When you are with us we defyK
The blustering air the lowering skyK
In spite of winter's icy dartsL
We've spring and sunshine in our heartsL
-
In fine upon this April dayM
This deep conundrum I will bringN
Tell me the two good reasons prayM
I have to say you are like springN
-
You give it up Because we love youO
And see so very little of youO
