And vagrant odours thronged the breeze | B |
And bluebirds wrangled in the bowers | A |
And daisies flashed along the leas | B |
And faint arbutus strove among | C |
Dead winter's leaf strewn wreck to rise | D |
And nature's sweetly jubilant song | E |
Went murmuring up the sunny skies | D |
Into this cheerful world you came | F |
And gained by right your vernal name | F |

I think the springs have changed of late | G |
For Arctics are my daily wear | H |
The skies are turned to cold grey slate | G |
And zephyrs are but draughts of air | H |
But you make up whate'er we lack | I |
When we too rarely come together | J |
More potent than the almanac | I |
You bring the ideal April weather | J |
When you are with us we defy | K |
The blustering air the lowering sky | K |
In spite of winter's icy darts | L |
We've spring and sunshine in our hearts | L |

This deep conundrum I will bring | N |
Tell me the two good reasons pray | M |
I have to say you are like spring | N |
