Hail beauteous stranger of the groveA
Thou messenger of SpringB
Now Heaven repairs thy rural seatC
And woods thy welcome ringB
-
What time the daisy decks the greenD
Thy certain voice we hearE
Hast thou a star to guide thy pathF
Or mark the rolling yearG
-
Delightful visitant with theeH
I hail the time of flowersI
And hear the sound of music sweetC
From birds among the bowersI
-
The schoolboy wand'ring through the woodJ
To pull the primrose gayK
Starts the new voice of Spring to hearE
And imitates thy layK
-
What time the pea puts on the bloomL
Thou fli'st thy vocal valeM
An annual guest in other landsN
Another Spring to hailM
-
Sweet bird thy bower is ever greenD
Thy sky is ever clearG
Thou hast no sorrow in thy songO
No Winter in thy yearG
-
O could I fly I'd fly with theeH
We'd make with joyful wingB
Our annual visit o'er the globeP
Companions of the SpringB
