Christmas was always specialA
And my memories make me smileB
Even when the times were roughC
The sadness left for a little whileB
-
I tried not to wake up so earlyD
But it was impossible to sleepE
My brain was in a ditherF
Wondering which gifts I got to keepE
-
I just had to rush downstairsG
To see what Santa broughtH
And I was always hopefulA
The old guy might be caughtI
-
For most of my younger yearsJ
I thought Santa was realK
Unfortunately to my dismayL
He wasn t the real dealK
-
Even when I learned that factM
My joy of Christmas didn t fadeN
I just looked at it differentlyD
Nothing could make it degradeN
-
Now that I m an older manO
I ve taken a different viewP
The real meaning of ChristmasQ
Is important to renewP
-
The word within the wordR
Tells the real storyD
It s not about gifts or SantaS
But God in all His gloryD
-
I wish the entire worldT
Would remember the old hymnU
About the special baby bornV
In a manger in BethlehemW
-
It seems we have forgottenX
The true meaning of the timeY
I want to bring it back againZ
With just a bit of rhymeY
