Poetry by Jim Morrison (of the Doors) and Craig Strete. "I have seen the future and I won't go," says Morrison, staring at the sky as if he saw the words up there somewhere. And the day explodes, rocketting into a long shamanistic shared journey. Words tumble out as we write furiously, thrown together accidentally by the summer. Putting it all down on paper. Poems meant never to be heard except in the dark side of our lives. Stories of the yet to happen, fantasies that bleed and offer no comfort. The future has been to the barricades too many times. The future has been up against the wall so many times that the handwriting on the wall is now on the future. It is on us. We see our own deaths and the deaths of those around us.

Jim Morrison was one of the most erudite and widely read of all rock stars, whatever demons inhabited his anguished soul. The name of his group The Doors was inspired by the writings of William Blake and Aldous Huxley, and the lyrics he wrote and sang bear witness to his fertile gift for rich, mysterious imagery. Much of this was overlooked amid the colourful, controversial and decadent life that Morrison chose to lead.

James Douglas "Jim" Morrison was an American singer, songwriter, and poet best remembered as the lead singer of the Doors. Because of his songwriting, wild personality, performances, and the dramatic circumstances surrounding his life and death, he is regarded by critics and fans as one of the most iconic and influential frontmen in rock music history. In the later part of the 20th century, he was one of the popular culture's most rebellious and oft-displayed icons, representing the generation gap and youth counterculture. He was also well known for improvising spoken word poetry passages while the band played live. Morrison was ranked number 47 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time," and number 22 on Classic Rock magazine's "50 Greatest Singers In Rock." Ray Manzarek said Morrison "embodied hippie counterculture rebellion." Morrison was sometimes referred to by other monikers, such as "Lizard King" and "King of Orgasmic Rock."
