Down To Sleep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBCC DEDEECC DBDBBCC AFAFFCC

November woods are bare and stillA
November days are clear and brightB
Each noon burns up the morning's chillA
The morning's snow is gone by nightB
Each day my steps grow slow grow lightB
As through the woods I reverent creepC
Watching all things lie down to sleepC
-
I never knew before what bedsD
Fragrant to smell and soft to touchE
The forest sifts and shapes and spreadsD
I never knew before how muchE
Of human sound there is in suchE
Low tones as through the forest sweepC
When all wild things lie down to sleepC
-
Each day I find new coverlidsD
Tucked in and more sweet eyes shut tightB
Sometimes the viewless mother bidsD
Her ferns kneel down full in my sightB
I hear their chorus of good nightB
And half I smile and half I weepC
Listening while they lie down to sleepC
-
November woods are bare and stillA
November days are bright and goodF
Life's noon burns up life's morning chillA
Life's night rests feet which long have stoodF
Some warm soft bed in field or woodF
The mother will not fail to keepC
Where we can lay us down to sleepC
