J. H. On The Death Of His Wife. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB DEFFE GHIJH KLFFL MNION PLQQN

Oh when I found that Death had setA
His awful stamp on theeB
Deserted on Life's stormy shoreC
I thought that Time could have in storeC
Not one more shaft for meB
-
Long I had watched thy lingering bloomD
That brightened 'mid decayE
And then its eloquent appealF
Would ask my heart if death could stealF
Such loveliness awayE
-
And oh could pure unsullied worthG
Or peerless beauty saveH
We had not stood as mourners hereI
And shed the unavailing tearJ
O'er thy untimely graveH
-
But we have seen thee lowly laidK
And I am here aloneL
Each morn I shuddering wake to feelF
The consciousness around me stealF
That all my hopes are flownL
-
All did I say Ingrate indeedM
Oh be the thought forgivenN
Has he not hopes and interests hereI
Whose sacred task it is to rearO
A family for HeavenN
-
Rebellious heart some tendril tiesP
Around thee still are thrownL
Oh while this cherub group is mineQ
Heaven's dearest gift I can resignQ
And say Thy will be doneN
