Turn from the grave turn from the graveA
There's fearful mystery thereB
Descend not to the shadowy tombC
If thou wouldst shun despairB
It tells a tale of severed tiesD
To break the bleeding heartE
And from the canopy of dustF
Would make it death to partE
Oh lift the eye of faith to worldsG
Where death shall never comeH
And there behold the pure in heartE
Whom God has gathered homeI
Beyond the changing things of timeJ
Beyond the reach of careB
How sweet to view the ransomed onesK
In dazzling glory thereB
They seem to whisper to the lovedL
Who smoothed their path belowM
Weep not for us our tears have allN
Forever ceased to flowM
Take from the grave take from the graveA
Those bright but withering flowersO
The spirit that had loved them onceP
Is now in fadeless bowersO
Undying is the fragrance thereB
Eternal is the bloomC
But the next breeze may waft awayQ
This perishing perfumeC
One fearful stamp Doomed to decayQ
Marks all the joys of earthR
Oh what a resting place for soulsS
Of an immortal birthR
Then linger round the grave no moreT
Lift lift the eye to HeavenU
Till hues of faith shall gild the gloomC
And every sigh's forgivenU
Then when the golden harvest's doneU
The path of duty trodV
Thou with the loved may'st garnered beW
And gathered home to GodV
