The Joy Of The Hills Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF GGHHIIJJKK LLMM

I ride on the mountain tops I rideA
I have found my life and am satisfiedA
Onward I ride in the blowing oatsB
Checking the field lark's rippling notesB
Lightly I sweepC
From steep to steepC
Over my head through the branches highD
Come glimpses of a rushing skyD
The tall oats brush my horse's flanksE
Wild poppies crowd on the sunny banksE
A bee booms out of the scented grassF
A jay laughs with me as I passF
-
I ride on the hills I forgive I forgetG
Life's hoard of regretG
All the terror and painH
Of the chafing chainH
Grind on O cities grindI
I leave you a blur behindI
I am lifted elate the skies expandJ
Here the world's heaped gold is a pile of sandJ
Let them weary and work in their narrow wallsK
I ride with the voices of waterfallsK
-
I swing on as one in a dream I swingL
Down the airy hollows I shout I singL
The world is gone like an empty wordM
My body's a bough in the wind my heart a birdM
