When The Lid Was On Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDECEFGDGHBDB

They were seated there in silenceA
Each one busy with a frownB
It was midnight in the cityC
And the lid was on the townB
They had all been playing pokerD
'Mid the rattle of the chinkE
When a gloom fell o'er the partyC
For they couldn't buy a drinkE
But a little fellow whisperedF
As he held a poker handG
Can't we get as drunk on waterD
As we can upon the landG
Then we kicked the little rascalH
And we spoke without a frownB
And we anchored safe in harborD
When the lid was on the townB
