Unimportant Differences Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEGHIHI JKJKLMLM NONOPQPQ

If he is honest kindly trueA
And glad to work from day to dayB
If when his bit of toil is throughA
With children he will stoop to playB
If he does always what he canC
To serve another's time of needD
Then I shall hail him as a manC
And never ask him what's his creedD
-
If he respects a woman's nameE
And guards her from all thoughtless jeersF
If he is glad to play life's gameE
And not risk all to get the cheersG
If he disdains to win by bluffH
And scorns to gain by shady tricksI
I hold that he is good enoughH
Regardless of his politicsI
-
If he is glad his much to shareJ
With them who little here possessK
If he will stand by what is fairJ
And not desert to claim successK
If he will leave a smile behindL
As he proceeds from place to placeM
He has the proper frame of mindL
And I won't stop to ask his raceM
-
For when at last life's battle endsN
And all the troops are called on highO
We shall discover many friendsN
That thoughtlessly we journeyed byO
And we shall learn that God aboveP
Has judged His creatures by their deedsQ
That millions there have won His loveP
Who spoke in different tongues and creedsQ
