Lady in the show case carriageA
Do not think that I'm a bearB
Not for worlds would I disparageA
One so gracious and so fairB
Do not think that I am blind toC
One who has a smile seraphicD
You I'd never be unkind toC
But you are impeding trafficD
-
If I had some way of knowingD
What you are about to doC
Just exactly where you're goingD
If I could depend on youC
I could keep my engine churningD
Travel on and never mind youC
Lady when you think of turningD
Why not signal us behind youC
-
Lady free from care and worryE
Riding in your plate glass carF
Some of us are in a hurryE
Some of us must travel farF
I myself am eager veryE
To be journeying on my wayG
Lady is it necessaryE
To monopolize the highwayG
-
Lady at the handle steeringD
Why not keep a course that's straightH
Know you not that wildly veeringD
As you do is tempting fateH
Do not think my horn I'm blowingD
Just on purpose to harass youC
It is just a signal showingD
That I'd safely like to pass youC
-
Lady there are times a dutyE
Must be done however saddeningD
It is hard to tell a beautyE
That she's very often maddeningD
And I would not now be sayingD
Harsh and cruel words to fuss youC
But when traffic you're delayingD
You are forcing men to cuss youC
