I've seen the prairies golden dressed | A |
And California's hedges prim | B |
I've seen the Kansas corn fields blow | C |
I've seen them wearing summer's tan | D |
But there's no place on earth can show | C |
Such glorious green as Michigan | E |
- | |
I've seen the blue of foreign skies | F |
I've seen old England's shady lanes | G |
The famous spots men advertise | F |
The mountains and the rolling plains | G |
But wearily my eyes have turned | H |
From scenes that others gayly scan | D |
And secretly my soul has yearned | H |
To see the green of Michigan | E |
- | |
I've traveled in a Pullman car | I |
And watched the landscape slipping by | J |
But always though I've wandered far | I |
To fairer charms my mind would fly | J |
And when at last the moving scenes | K |
Seem painted by some Master Man | D |
With all the cool and restful greens | K |
I know I'm back in Michigan | E |
- | |
Here Mother Nature never tires | L |
And droops her head upon her breast | A |
Beneath the scorching summer fires | L |
She keeps her youth and looks her best | A |
When other states have lost the hue | M |
They had when first the spring began | D |
'Tis like refreshing drink to view | M |
The splendid green of Michigan | E |
- | |
Go search for charms on foreign shores | N |
Enthuse of wonders as you roam | O |
I choose the splendors at our doors | N |
I sing the rich delights of home | O |
The trees in garb of glory dressed | A |
The fertile fields that round us span | D |
I sing the charm that thrills me best | A |
The glorious green of Michigan | E |
