The Flag On The Farm Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

We've raised a flagpole on the farmA
And flung Old Glory to the skyB
And it's another touch of charmA
That seems to cheer the passer byB
But more than that no matter whereC
We're laboring in wood and fieldD
We turn and see it in the airC
Our promise of a greater yieldD
It whispers to us all day longE
From dawn to dusk 'Be true be strongE
Who falters now with plow or hoeF
Gives comfort to his country's foe 'G
-
It seems to me I've never triedH
To do so much about the placeI
Nor been so slow to come insideH
But since I've got the flag to faceI
Each night when I come home to restJ
I feel that I must look up thereC
And say 'Old Flag I've done my bestJ
To day I've tried to do my share '-
And sometimes just to catch the breezeK
I stop my work and o'er the treesK
Old Glory fairly shouts my wayL
'You're shirking far too much to day '-
-
The help have caught the spirit tooM
The hired man takes off his capN
Before the old red white and blueM
Then to the horses says 'giddap '-
And starting bravely to the fieldD
He tells the milkmaid by the doorO
'We're going to make these acres yieldD
More than they've ever done before '-
She smiles to hear his gallant bragP
Then drops a curtsy to the flagP
And in her eyes there seems to shineQ
A patriotism that is fineQ
-
We've raised a flagpole on the farmA
And flung Old Glory to the skyB
We're far removed from war's alarmA
But courage here is running highB
We're doing things we never dreamedR
We'd ever find the time to doM
Deeds that impossible once seemedR
Each morning now we hurry throughM
The flag now waves above our toilS
And sheds its glory on the soilS
And boy and man looks up to itT
As if to say 'I'll do my bit '-
