The Dull Road Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFG DHDH

It's the dull road that leads to the gay roadA
The practice that leads to successB
The work road that leads to the play roadA
It is trouble that breeds happinessC
-
It's the hard work and merciless grindingD
That purchases glory and fameE
It's repeatedly doing nor mindingD
The drudgery drear of the gameE
-
It's the passing up glamor or pleasureF
For the sake of the skill we may gainG
And in giving up comfort or leisureF
For the joy that we hope to attainG
-
It's the hard road of trying and learningD
Of toiling uncheered and aloneH
That wins us the prizes worth earningD
And leads us to goals we would ownH
