The Dream Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGGHHIIJJ KKLLMMHHNNHH

I LIKE the dream days best of allA
The hollyhocks against the wallA
The rambler roses blushing redB
The blue skies bending overheadB
With just enough of summer breezeC
To whisper in the leafy treesC
When lazily the plow boys plodD
And lazily the blossoms nodD
And everything about me seemsE
Wrapt up somehow in pleasant dreamsE
-
I like to lie full length and flatF
And shade my eyes with my old hatF
Building out yonder in the skiesG
Air castles grand whose towers riseG
Higher than summer swallows flyH
The castles of sweet by and byH
Forgetting care and shirking toilI
Forgetting lust for fame and spoilI
Just dreaming dreams that won't come trueJ
But living as the flowers doJ
-
I like the dream days best for thenK
The world 's in tune with lazy menK
The very flowers droop and swayL
In such a restful lazy wayL
As though they too would like to beM
Stretched out beneath this tree with meM
And fleecy snow white clouds float byH
As though no part of earth or skyH
And far off seem the busy martsN
Where gather shrewd and sordid heartsN
Just roses hollyhocks and IH
Dreaming while Father Time goes byH
