The Complacent Slacker Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDBEF GGHDDHI JJKLLKM NNOPPOQQ

When he was just a lad in schoolA
He used to sit around and foolA
And watch the clock and sayB
'I can't see that I'll ever needC
This stuff the teacher makes me readD
I'll work no more to dayB
And anyhow it's almost JuneE
And school days will be over soon 'F
-
One time we played a baseball gameG
And when a chance for stealing cameG
On second base he stoodH
And when we asked him why he saidD
'What was the use they're far aheadD
One run would do no goodH
The game is almost over nowI
We couldn't win it anyhow '-
-
The same old slacker still is heJ
With men at war on land and seaJ
And our lads plunging in itK
He spreads afar his old excuseL
'I'd like to help but what's the useL
The Allied troops will win itK
There's nothing now to make us fret thereM
They'll have it won before we get there '-
-
The worst of slackers is the manN
Who will not help whene'er he canN
But plays the idle roverO
And tells to all beset with doubtP
There's naught to be alarmed aboutP
The storm will soon be overO
Let no such dangerous person lead usQ
To day in France they sadly need usQ
