Somebody Spoke A Cheering Word Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEEF GHGHIIDJJD KJKJLLMNN

SOMEBODY spoke a cheering wordA
Somebody praised his laborB
And something deep in his soul was stirredA
That night he smiled at his neighborB
He kissed his wife with a hearty smackC
He rode the children upon his backC
And he sang a tuneful dittyD
'Ho ho ' he cried to his patient wifeE
'I vow that never in all my lifeE
Have I seen you look so pretty 'F
-
Then into her eyes the love light creptG
A smile on her face appearedH
She hummed a song as the room she sweptG
And the children tugged his beardH
He told them stories of fairies goodI
Of pixies out in the distant woodI
And the sailors on the seaD
And there was a family made gayJ
Just because somebody chanced to sayJ
One little word cheerfullyD
-
And nobody knows how far it wentK
And nobody here can sayJ
When the morning came and he bravely wentK
To his labors for the dayJ
How much of the courage he showed was dueL
To the smile and the cheering word or twoL
But this we know anyhowM
That he climbed the ladder to wealth and fameN
And a cheering word may do the sameN
