It seemed a waste of words | B |
He gave to chance the wondrous plan | A |
That gave sweet song to birds | B |

And made the useful butterflies | C |
So beautiful to see | D |

And as we walked 'neath splendid trees | E |
Which cast a friendly shade | F |
He said 'Such miracles as these | E |
By accident were made ' | - |

Too well I know what accident | G |
And chance and force disclose | H |
To think blind fury could invent | I |
The beauty of a rose | H |

I let him talk and answered not | J |
I merely thought it odd | K |
That he could view a garden plot | J |
And not believe in God | K |
