Shut-ins Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEC FFGHIIAH JJKLMMNL OOPQEERQ AASTAALT

We're gittin' so we need againA
To see the sproutin' seed againA
We've been shut up all winter longB
Within our narrow roomsC
We're sort o' shriveled up an' dryD
Ma's cranky like an' quick to cryD
We need the blue skies overheadE
The garden with its bloomsC
-
I'm findin' fault with this an' thatF
I threw my bootjack at the catF
Because he rubbed against my legG
I guess I'm all on edgeH
I'm fidgety an' fussy tooI
An' Ma finds fault with all I doI
It seems we need to see againA
The green upon the hedgeH
-
We've been shut up so long it seemsJ
We've lost the glamour of our dreamsJ
We've narrowed down as people willK
Till fault is all we seeL
We need to stretch our souls in airM
Where there is room enough to spareM
We need the sight o' something greenN
On every shrub an' treeL
-
But soon our petulance will passO
Our feet will tread the dew kissed grassO
Our souls will break their narrow cellsP
An' swell with love once moreQ
And with the blue skies overheadE
The harsh an' hasty words we've saidE
Will vanish with the snow an' iceR
When spring unlocks the doorQ
-
The sun will make us sweet againA
With blossoms at our feet againA
We'll wander arm in arm the waysS
Where beauty reigns supremeT
An' Ma an' I shall smile againA
An' be ourselves awhile againA
An' claim like prisoners set freeL
The charm of every dreamT
