Now comes to paint the valleys and the hills | B |
And we forget completely that the year is getting old | A |
As we gaze upon the color that she spills | B |
For all that we remember | C |
Are the glories of September | C |
The bloom upon the peaches and the gold upon the grain | D |
The apples red with blushes | E |
From September's crimson brushes | F |
The glory of the hill tops and the splendor of the plain | D |
- | |
September magic artist comes again to paint the trees | G |
Comes again to crown with beauty Mother Earth | H |
And she'll touch with gold or crimson every humble plant she sees | G |
Without questioning its merit or its worth | H |
And the eye that looks to see | I |
On the frailest little tree | I |
Will behold a touch of glory where September it caressed | J |
And the poorest little bloom | K |
That is soon to meet its doom | K |
Will be nodding in the sunshine with the proudest richly dressed | J |
- | |
And September makes me think as I watch her splashing paints | L |
Over every living thing underneath the skies today | M |
That the poorest of us here when he goes to join the saints | L |
Will receive a touch of glory in the very self same way | M |
That the humblest of the lot | N |
In the end won't be forgot | N |
As September crowns with beauty all the works of | O |
Mother Earth | H |
So the gentle God above | O |
In His mercy and His love | O |
In the frailest of his creatures will find something that's of worth | H |
