Because that bauble glistens there | F |
- | |
A child will wake on Christmas Day | G |
And find his stocking filled with toys | H |
The home will ring with laughter gay | G |
That boy be glad as richer boys | H |
And there a mother fond will sing | I |
A song of joy to hear his shout | J |
Forgetting every needed thing | I |
That she will have to do without | J |
- | |
A heart that's brimming o'er with love | K |
Will suffer gladly for a friend | L |
And take no time in thinking of | K |

A gladness that alone was born | M |
Of someone's willing sacrifice | B |
- | |

And say but fools such presents give | O |
There'll be such sacrifices till | N |
All human love shall cease to live | P |

If no one ever gave a gift | Q |
That was not born of sacrifice | B |
- | |
The brightest gifts that us reward | R |
Are those the givers can't afford | R |
