Our Duty To Our Flag Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH CCJKKJ LLMNNM

Less hate and greedA
Is what we needA
And more of service trueB
More men to loveC
The flag aboveC
And keep it first in viewB
-
Less boast and bragD
About the flagD
More faith in what it meansE
More heads erectF
More self respectF
Less talk of war machinesE
-
The time to fightG
To keep it brightG
Is not along the wayH
Nor 'cross the foamI
But here at homeI
Within ourselves to dayH
-
'Tis we must loveC
That flag aboveC
With all our might and mainJ
For from our handsK
Not distant landsK
Shall come dishonor's stainJ
-
If that flag beL
Dishonored weL
Have done it not the foeM
If it shall fallN
We first of allN
Shall be to strike a blowM
