Foxes can talk if you know how to listenA
My Paw said soB
Owls have big eyes that sparkle an' glistenA
My Paw said soB
Bears can turn flip flaps an' climb ellum treesC
An' steal all the honey away from the beesC
An' they never mind winter becoz they don't freezeC
My Paw said soB

Girls is a scared of a snake but boys ain'tD
My Paw said soB
They holler an' run an' sometimes they faintD
My Paw said soB
But boys would be 'shamed to be frightened that wayE
When all that the snake wants to do is to playE
You've got to believe every word that I sayE
My Paw said soB

Wolves ain't so bad if you treat 'em all rightF
My Paw said soB
They're as fond of a game as they are of a fightF
My Paw said soB
An' all of the animals found in the woodG
Ain't always ferocious Most times they are goodG

The trouble is mostly they're misunderstoodG
My Paw said soB
You can think what you like but I stick to it whenH
My Paw said soB
An' I'll keep right on sayin' again an' againH
My Paw said soB
Maybe foxes don't talk to such people as youI
An' bears never show you the tricks they can doI
But I know that the stories I'm tellin' are trueI
