Lord, Make Me A Regular Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC AADDCC AAEECC AAFGCC

This I would like to be braver and bolderA
Just a bit wiser because I am olderA
Just a bit kinder to those I may meetB
Just a bit manlier taking defeatB
This for the New Year my wish and my pleaC
Lord make a regular man out of meC
-
This I would like to be just a bit finerA
More of a smiler and less of a whinerA
Just a bit quicker to stretch out my handD
Helping another who's struggling to standD
This is my prayer for the New Year to beC
Lord make a regular man out of meC
-
This I would like to be just a bit fairerA
Just a bit better and just a bit squarerA
Not quite so ready to censure and blameE
Quicker to help every man in the gameE
Not quite so eager men's failings to seeC
Lord make a regular man out of meC
-
This I would like to be just a bit truerA
Less of the wisher and more of the doerA
Broader and bigger more willing to giveF
Living and helping my neighbor to liveG
This for the New Year my prayer and my pleaC
Lord make a regular man out of meC
