Little Miss Six O'clock Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE EFEFAGAH I IAJAJ KLKLMCMC

JUST at the edge of the night and the morningA
Little Miss Six O'clock comes to my bedB
A sweet little laugh is her musical warningA
That day time is here and the night time is fledB
And I am so sleepy and I am so wearyC
I want to doze on for an hour or two moreD
But Little Miss Six O'clock bright eyed and cheeryC
Has come to announce that the sleep time is o'erE
-
Little Miss Six O'clock that's what I call herE
As brim full of fun as a rose is of dewF
And as sweet as a rose only plumper and tallerE
Comes to announce that the night time is throughF
Smiles that are brighter than May sunbeams dancingA
Already out there on the velvety lawnG
Over the counterpane bounding and prancingA
Little Miss Six O'clock heralds the mornH
-
'Wake up lazy daddy wake up it is day time '-
She shouts in my ear as she tickles my noseI
'Wake up lazy daddy it's morning and play time '-
Then she tickles my ribs with her little pink toesI
For a minute or more I pretend to be sleepingA
Till over her face comes the trace of a poutJ
And Little Miss Six O'clock shows signs of weepingA
Then 'O my goodness is that you ' I shoutJ
-
We bounce and we roll and bump and jumpK
And under the covers I hide awayL
And I pretend I 'm an old tree stumpK
Out in the woods where the fairies playL
I've forgotten that I was a tired old dadM
Who wanted to sleep and I 'm trouble freeC
And every morning my heart is gladM
When Little Miss Six O'clock comes to meC
