Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE EFEFAGAH I IAJAJ KLKLMCMCJUST at the edge of the night and the morning | A |
Little Miss Six O'clock comes to my bed | B |
A sweet little laugh is her musical warning | A |
That day time is here and the night time is fled | B |
And I am so sleepy and I am so weary | C |
I want to doze on for an hour or two more | D |
But Little Miss Six O'clock bright eyed and cheery | C |
Has come to announce that the sleep time is o'er | E |
- | |
Little Miss Six O'clock that's what I call her | E |
As brim full of fun as a rose is of dew | F |
And as sweet as a rose only plumper and taller | E |
Comes to announce that the night time is through | F |
Smiles that are brighter than May sunbeams dancing | A |
Already out there on the velvety lawn | G |
Over the counterpane bounding and prancing | A |
Little Miss Six O'clock heralds the morn | H |
- | |
'Wake up lazy daddy wake up it is day time ' | - |
She shouts in my ear as she tickles my nose | I |
'Wake up lazy daddy it's morning and play time ' | - |
Then she tickles my ribs with her little pink toes | I |
For a minute or more I pretend to be sleeping | A |
Till over her face comes the trace of a pout | J |
And Little Miss Six O'clock shows signs of weeping | A |
Then 'O my goodness is that you ' I shout | J |
- | |
We bounce and we roll and bump and jump | K |
And under the covers I hide away | L |
And I pretend I 'm an old tree stump | K |
Out in the woods where the fairies play | L |
I've forgotten that I was a tired old dad | M |
Who wanted to sleep and I 'm trouble free | C |
And every morning my heart is glad | M |
When Little Miss Six O'clock comes to me | C |
