Joys Within Reach Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBADED AFGFCHCH IJKJEACA AFEFELML

You needn't be rich to be happyA
You needn't be famous to smileB
There are joys for the poorest of toilersC
If only he'll think them worth whileB
There are blue skies and sunshine a plentyA
And blossoms for all to beholdD
And always the bright days outnumberE
The dark and the cheerless and coldD
-
Sweet sleep's not a gift of the wealthyA
And love's not alone for the greatF
For men to grow old and successfulG
It isn't joy's custom to waitF
The poorest of toilers has blessingsC
His richer companions may craveH
And many a man who has richesC
Goes sorrowing on to the graveH
-
You'll never be happy tomorrowI
If you are not happy todayJ
If you're missing the joys that are presentK
And sighing for joys far awayJ
The rose will not bloom any fairerE
In the glorious years that may beA
Great riches won't sweeten its fragranceC
Nor help you its beauties to seeA
-
Today is the time to make merryA
'Tis folly for fortune to waitF
You'll not find the skies any bluerE
If ever you come to be greatF
You'll not find your joys any brighterE
No matter what fortune you winL
Make the most of life's sunshine this minuteM
Tomorrow's too late to beginL
