| And he knows all the names of birds | B |
| And how they call 'thout using words | B |
| And where they live and what they eat | C |
| And how they build their nests so neat | C |
| He's lots of fun Sometimes all day | D |
| He comes to visit me and play | D |
| You see he's getting old and so | E |
| To work he doesn't have to go | E |
| And when it isn't raining he | F |
| Drops in to have some fun with me | F |

| He tells me how God makes the trees | H |
| And why it hurts to pick up bees | H |
| Sometimes he stops and shows to me | F |

| He says 'Why there's a candy store | J |
| Let's us go there and see if they | D |

| That children should be sent to bed | M |

| And grandpa laughs and says 'That's true | I |
| That's what I used to say to you | I |
| It is a father's place to show | E |
| The young the way that they should go | E |
| But grandpas have a different task | O |

| I'm going to spend my time in play | D |
| I'm going to be a grandpa too | I |
| And do as all the grandpas do | I |
| I'll buy my daughter's children things | A |

| And frogs and fish and birds and bees | H |
| And fairies in the shady glen | P |
