Aye we will follow the FlagA
Wherever she goesB
Into the tropic sunC
Into the northern snowsB
Go where the guns ring outD
Scattering steel and leadE
Painting the hills with bloodF
Strewing the fields with deadE
But in each heart must beG
And back of each bitter gunC
Love for the best in lifeH
After the fighting's doneC
-
Aye we will follow the FlagA
Into benighted landsI
Brave in the faith for whichJ
Proudly our banner standsI
Life for her life we'll payK
Blood for her blood we'll giveL
Fighting but not to killM
Save that the best shall liveN
But when the cannon's roarO
Dies in a hymn of peaceP
Justice and truth must reignQ
Power of the brute must ceaseP
-
Aye we will follow the FlagA
Gladly her work we'll doR
Banishing wrongs of oldS
Founding the truth anewR
What though our guns must speakT
What though brave men must dieU
Ages of truth to comeV
All this shall justifyU
Men in the charms of peaceP
Basking in Freedom's sunC
Some day shall bless our FlagA
After our work is doneC
-
Aye we will follow the FlagA
Wherever she goesB
Into the tropic sunC
Into the northern snowsB
Fearlessly on we'll goW
Into the cruel strifeH
Gladly the few shall dieU
Winning for many lifeH
Tyranny's wrongs must ceaseP
Brutes must no longer bragA
This is our work on earthX
So we will follow the FlagA
