Copy Paper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EAEAFGFG HDHDAIAI AJAAAKAK AAAJLBLB

I START the day with paper whiteA
And put it in my old machineB
And wonder whether as I writeA
The night will find my copy cleanB
Will this day's finished task be fairC
Or full of blemishes and flawsD
Will what my hands have written thereC
Deserve derision or applauseD
-
Have I put down a single thingE
That better would have been unwritA
Have I let pass a jibe or flingE
With venom at the point of itA
This paper spotless came to meF
How will it leave my little denG
What will the printer's judgment beF
And what will say my fellow menG
-
'Tis mine to do with as I willH
I view the finished work and pauseD
Here is a thought that I must killH
And here a verse that's full of flawsD
And here's a line that I'd regretA
If ever I should let it goI
The paper now is blurred and yetA
I much prefer to have it soI
-
Tomorrow it will be too lateA
Whatever is must stand for ayeJ
If I have penned a line in hateA
That stays the record for todayA
And whether it be good or badA
I cannot change one single lineK
My chance to be of worth I've hadA
And every blemish there is mineK
-
My life is like the paper sheetA
On which I toil from day to dayA
And there the bitter and the sweetA
Are written down to last for ayeJ
And oh I hope when comes the callL
That takes me from this earthly sceneB
The God above who judges allL
Will find my copy fairly cleanB
